Autumn Trends 2026

The days are slowly getting longer, even if you are wondering how long until summer? But winter is the time to start planning, especially home improvements, while summer is the perfect time to actually refresh your home!

Here is our guide to what you could achieve this summer…

Home Improvement 101: Repainting

The simplest way to improve your home is a fresh coat of paint! Summer is the ideal time to repaint as not only can you open the windows to release the fumes but the paint will dry quicker in warm weather!

You can either paint the whole room, a feature wall or else just add some accent colours in a window or alcove. We have plenty of excellent ideas for hues in our colour of the year 2026 blog.

Living room colour ideas include options like neutral cloud-dancer white (perfect for a whole room paired with our Kiznie TV Cabinet in Black and Oak), or if you prefer a transformative teal feature wall (a wonderful match for our Luen living room furniture).

Kitchen paint can also be an option, either repainting the cabinets themselves (see our guide here) or else repainting the walls. In a kitchen replacing the tiles can be a way to add more colour too! We love these aperol orange metro tiles with the Ella White Gloss kitchen range!

A Complete Kitchen Renovation

Talking of kitchens, summer is the best time to fit a DIY kitchens cabinet set. Not only can you serve salads and BBQ food for dinner (and nobody will complain!) but plaster, paint and grout will all dry quicker. You can also use your patio to assemble your kitchen units in the sun!

Kitchen décor ideas can include deviating from the usual kitchen wall units and base unit combos. Try using larder cabinets to build in pantry storage and add in extra storage freeing up wall space to make your kitchen lighter and brighter.

We love the idea of using Kitchen base units and a complementary wall shelf for aesthetic storage and display solutions, or else going for an unfitted kitchen style with a sideboard to add extra storage and flair in a kitchen diner!

Refresh your Bathroom

While we are thinking about large scale home renovations, how about your bathroom? Summer could be the best time to do your DIY Bathrooms as you can shower in the garden with a hose (we’re joking!). It does though offer a chance to store ceramics in outside storage spaces (sheds, summer houses, garages) without the risk of frost damage!

If you are not feeling the need (or don’t have the budget) to do a whole bathroom renovation then consider changing your Under sink cabinet. A new vanity and sink set can give a whole new feel to a bathroom. You can refresh the splashback at the same time if your bathroom is not fully tiled.

This can be especially powerful in a small bathroom, cloakroom or en suite. We love the idea of pairing our white gloss Avir vanity and sink with some beautiful Blue patterned tiles as a stylish splashback.

Alternatively if your small bathroom needs some added storage then why not swap out your mirror for a specific bathroom mirror cabinet. Not only is this an easy to install, low cost way to add convenient storage but these units are designed to be water-resistant so are perfect for a bathroom.

Explore Garden Furniture

The obvious home improvement to do in the summer is of course the garden. Whether that’s a complete re-landscaping, planting out shrubs and bulbs or laying a patio – the warm weather and light evenings afford plenty of opportunity!

When your green thumbs need a rest though, skip the dodgy plastic chairs and give a thought for proper outdoor chairs. A complete set of Garden chairs like our Porto set of chairs, sofa and table – perfect to add a modern stylish touch to any patio or courtyard garden.

If you are after a more traditional Garden Seat set up then the Cozy range of garden benches and garden chairs are ideal to add cottage garden vibes to any outdoor space. Whether under a rose arch or window, or by the greenhouse these FSC certified solid wood benches will give comfy seating for many summers!
